History

Conspiracy Journal was the standing newsletter of Timothy Green Beckley's Global Communications and Inner Light Publications imprint, distributed from PO Box 753, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Beckley (1947 to 2021), better known on radio and in print as Mr UFO, was one of the more durable independent publishers in the American paranormal and UFO trade from the late 1960s onwards. The archive holds Issue 47, dated 2017 by the standing book-order deadline ("Good till June 1, 2017, $18.95 thereafter") printed inside the issue. Beckley's masthead credit reads "Editor/Publisher/Wish Maker" and the issue documents his contemporary editorial voice in the final years of his life.

The Conspiracy Journal title sat inside a larger Beckley publishing infrastructure. Inner Light Publications, founded in 1968, was Beckley's principal book imprint, with Global Communications running the periodical and direct-mail catalogue side. Beckley distributed the newsletter free with book and pamphlet orders, with the issue functioning as both editorial vehicle and standing back-catalogue advertisement for the imprint. Contributing authors named in the Issue 47 masthead include Sean Casteel and Shawn Robbins, both regular Beckley collaborators on UFO and prophecy-tradition titles. The issue's design and layout, dense two-column print, photograph captions, book-order coupons across multiple pages, are the recognisable visual signature of the Beckley operation.

Contents of Issue 47
The 2017 issue opens with Beckley's editorial "Hocus Pocus, All That Glitters is Hardly Gold," a tonal commentary on the political and media climate of the period, glossed through Beckley's standing editorial frame that the deeper story (the alien presence, the world's cabals, the surveillance state) is the one worth tracking. The longer feature inside the issue, "The Paranormal Synchronicities of Tim Beckley," is autobiographical and runs as a first-person catalogue of moments Beckley considered evidence that synchronicity is a working principle of the kind of life his career took. The bulk of the remaining pages are the standing Inner Light / Global Communications book catalogue, with titles including Amityville and Beyond, America's Top Secret Treaty With Alien Life Forms, The Commander X Files Updated, Candle Burning Magic With the Psalms (the imprint's longest-running bestseller), and The Matrix Control System of Philip K. Dick.
