The Trump administration’s UAP disclosure initiative has produced several concrete actions since February 2026, including an executive directive, the registration of a government domain, and public statements from senior officials.

Executive Action

On February 20, 2026, President Trump directed the Pentagon and other federal agencies to begin identifying and releasing government files related to aliens, UAPs, and UFOs. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was named as the point person for the effort. The directive did not specify which files would be declassified or provide a public timeline for their release.

Aliens.gov Domain

In March 2026, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency registered the alien.gov and aliens.gov web domains, adding both to the official government website registry. The registration was reported by Forbes on March 18, 2026.

Administration Statements

Vice President JD Vance has publicly stated he is “obsessed” with UFOs. Donald Trump Jr. has separately stated there is “evidence of non-human intelligence out there engaging with our planet.” Defense Secretary Hegseth stated in February that the Pentagon would be in “full compliance” with the president’s executive order.

Status of Disclosure

As of April 2026, the Trump directive has not yet resulted in the public release of specific UAP files or records. The Pentagon missed a congressional deadline of April 14 to deliver 46 requested UAP videos. CNN reported in March that the selection, review, declassification, and eventual release of materials could take weeks, months, or years.

AARO Historical Review Caveat

AARO’s historical review of government UFO investigations dating back to 1945, completed in 2024, stated it found no evidence of hidden programs involving recovered extraterrestrial technology. That conclusion has been disputed by multiple witnesses who testified before Congress, including former intelligence official David Grusch, who stated under oath in July 2023 that the U.S. government possesses retrieved non-human craft and biological materials.
