Travis Taylor
Dr. Travis S. Taylor is an American aerospace engineer, physicist and author. He holds doctoral degrees in optical science and engineering, multiple master's degrees, and works professionally in the missile-defence and advanced-aerospace contractor community. He served as Chief Scientist for the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force from approximately 2019 through the UAPTF's institutional transition to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office in 2022. Since 2020 he has been an on-camera principal of the History Channel series The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch alongside George Knapp and the broader Skinwalker investigation team.
A Life
Travis Taylor built his career in the missile-defence and advanced-aerospace contractor community in Huntsville, Alabama, working on technical problems across the Army Space and Missile Defense Command portfolio and the broader Department of Defense contracting community. His academic credentialling is unusually broad, with multiple PhDs and master's degrees across optical science and engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and physics, and his professional identity has bridged the technical contractor side, the popular-science author side, and the public broadcasting side throughout his career.
Around 2019 Taylor was brought into the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force as Chief Scientist. The UAPTF had been stood up under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence following Senator Marco Rubio's August 2020 instruction in the Senate Intelligence Authorization Act for FY2021. Taylor's role as Chief Scientist placed him at the technical centre of the post-AATIP institutional UAP analysis programme through to the UAPTF's transition into the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office in July 2022.
Since 2020 Taylor has been an on-camera principal of the History Channel series The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, alongside George Knapp and the broader Skinwalker investigation team. The series documents the contemporary field investigation of the Utah property purchased by Robert Bigelow in 1996 and subsequently sold to a new ownership group. Taylor's role on the show is technical: instrument deployment, data analysis, and on-camera interpretation of anomalous events recorded across the property.
