While the world watched Apollo 11 reach the Moon, APRO was investigating something darker: a case from Anolaima, Colombia where a man allegedly died after a close encounter with an unknown object. The issue also carried close encounter reports from three continents, including entity sightings that pushed the boundaries of what researchers were willing to document in print.

On July 4, 1969 at 8 pm at a remote farmhouse near Anolaima, about 40 miles northwest of Bogota, Arcesio Bermudez (13) saw a yellow-red light moving from east to west while outside looking for shooting stars with Enrique Osorio (15). He called all the children and adults outside. The object came within approximately 20 feet of the farmhouse. Arcesio Bermudez Sr.

On the 5th of June 1969, many witnesses from Illinois to Colorado observed an elongated object with phosphorescent green color and a long, fragmented tail which flew at high altitude in an east-west direction. Three Philippine farmers independently observed a UFO at 4 am, 7 am, and 9 am on November 1, 1968, in Rizal Province near the Philippine Communications Satellite (Philcomsat) Station, about 30 miles east of Manila, just 2 miles north of where the objects were observed. The three farmers observed the objects individually at separate times but gave almost identical descriptions.

Forty-year-old Edgar Paquette of Petawawa told authorities and press that he and his wife sighted a possible landed UFO on the 29th of August. The couple found a 24-foot horseshoe pattern of large (6 inches to 1 foot across) holes which appeared to have been made by tubular feet tipped with long spikes.

Four businessmen from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul have claimed that on the night of July 20, 1969, they were travelling by car near the town of Paulo Lopes when a huge UFO came along, hovered above the car (a station wagon) and then lifted it up, carried it through the air for a spell and let it down some distance down the road.

On the night of July 13, Pet Barr and her 17-year-old cousin Kathy Mabe were preparing for bed in the upstairs bedroom at the Barr farm, north of an Iowa town. Pet's attention was caught by the sound of what seemed to be a low-flying jet and she went to the north window and looked out in the direction of a neighboring farm.

On May 24, 1969, at an irrigation project site near Tepic, capital of Nayarit Province on the west coast of Mexico, Fernando Flores Guerro (31), in charge of a small irrigation project by the Pablis River, and Jesus de la Rosa Macias (30), a student, observed a disc descending into the mountainous brushy area.

John Patrick, the British sailor who made a lone crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, reported to the Miami Herald and other news services his sighting of two strange star-like objects during his voyage. His report to newspapers was made on the 30th of July 1969. He claimed that one night he spotted two bright lights about 20 degrees above the horizon that they were 10 times as bright as Venus.
