May-June 1969
Project Blue Book was months from its official closure. The Air Force was winding down, but sightings kept coming. This issue collected eighteen reports from police officers, airline pilots, and ordinary witnesses across the Americas, including a cluster of cases in the American southeast and a radar-visual encounter that defied the official line.
Sighting Reports
Half-hour observation of an unidentified aerial object by citizens and police officers at Vina, Tehama County, California. Observation began at 2:30 am on a moonless clear night. First witness Tom Kitchens, plowing a field with a tractor, noticed a bright light and stopped. The object illuminated a plain orchard field 140 yards from his position.
View on map · View in databaseThree SAB crew in three different aircraft reported observing a balloon-shaped object which divided itself into two parts at 5:08 am on January 14, 1969 over Norway. The sighting included ground observers took place in Mjolde, Norway when maneuvers were taking place. The object had the appearance of a huge bright object, and fragments were seen going into the northwest.
View on map · View in databaseWilliam Overstreet, 40, a rural mail carrier on route from Eldon to Atlanta, Missouri, encountered a bright 100-foot diameter orange ball about 4 miles west of Atlanta at 6:40 am on March 4, 1969. The object was about 6 to 8 miles from the road over a field. Traveling east, the object was proceeding in a northerly direction at very low speed.
View on map · View in databaseAPRO Investigators Robert Phillips, 43, and his wife Wilma were returning to their home near South Wayne, Wisconsin on Rural State Highway 11 at 11 pm on a relatively dark pace when they spotted a bright yellow-orange light in the sky. They rounded a turn about a mile from a mast at Brodhead, Wisconsin.
View on map · View in databaseOn the 8th of May 1969, an Army soldier named Antonio claims to have seen a disc-shaped object out of which came two or three yellowish-coloured men with long hair and beards and prominent cheekbones. They carried what appeared to be weapons which were pointed at him.
View on map · View in databaseA well-written and detailed feature article in the Juneau DAILY EMPIRE for January 1969 included some very interesting sightings which took place in the vicinity of Hawk Inlet on the 13th and 14th of December 1968. Ken Marlowe, cargo operator, and Ted Kuish were returning from a routine site check when they sighted the object.

Leo Paul Chaput, 54-year-old French-Canadian, and his family claim that they saw a white light right in the field around the back of their small farm. It was described as being like daylight. A Chaput, a small worker, lives with his wife and eight children on his small farm.
View on map · View in databaseAt 2:30 am on June 14, Don Reaser visiting his in-laws in Tucson observed a UFO reported by his brother-in-law Wayne Johnston. The object had first been giving off light in the northwest and moved quickly through 30 degrees of arc to a position slightly south of overhead.
