Case Files
Each exhibition reconstructs a case from the original documents held in the NHI Archive: witness statements, government investigation files, field reports, and newsletter coverage. Built from the same source material that researchers and investigators used at the time.
Roswell Incident
The recovery debris found on Mac Brazel's ranch outside Roswell, New Mexico in July 1947. The original RAAF press release, the retraction, the Project Mogul reconstruction, witness testimonies gathered across four decades, and the GAO 1995 investigation record.
Flying Saucers Over Papua
The 56-page bound Cruttwell Report documenting 79 sightings across the Papua New Guinea highlands under Australian Trust Territory administration. Includes the Boianai close encounter of 26 to 28 June 1959 witnessed by Father William Booth Gill and 37 named parishioners.
The Westall UFO Encounter
On 6 April 1966 more than 200 students and staff at Westall High School in Clayton South, Melbourne, watched a disc-shaped object descend into a paddock and depart at speed. The Victorian UFO Research Society case file, the Shane Ryan investigation record, and the 50-year reunion confirmations.
The Valentich Disappearance
Frederick Valentich vanished over Bass Strait on 21 October 1978 after reporting an unknown aircraft pacing his Cessna 182. The full air traffic control transcript, corroborating sightings from Cape Otway to King Island, and the Department of Transport investigation record.
What Makes an Exhibition
Exhibition pages are built when a case has enough original documentation in the archive to reconstruct it from first-hand records rather than secondary accounts. Each exhibition draws on government investigation files, field researcher reports, newsletter coverage, and witness statements held in the NHI Archive.
For the full case database (1,030 cases), see the Case Files. Cases with exhibition pages are marked with a brass badge in the listing. For declassified government document collections, see the Government Documents.
